Thats how I run mine... just off the ESC wire before the rx. it works great like that. I notice no drop off or loss of punch/speed at the end of 10+ minutes with a 13.5. Its also easier and lighter as you dont need the extra wire and an extra switch. And theres no chance of turning the wrong switch on.
