I can't imagine that this gear ratio will be overgearing the motor so the case of the overheating must be elsewhere.

Check that the car rolls freely and that the motor runs "normally" if it is out of the car. Check that there is air flowing over the ESC (no waterproof covers or anything like that.

Apart from that it is going to be very hard to work out what the problem is over the internet.
