I can vouch for not having to have a balancer for the Team Orion batteries.
I just check them with a multimeter, if they are out of balance (they were 0.01v different when I bought them) just hook up the charger to one cell (positive on + and negative to the balance port) and charge until you get them exactly the same... I just checked them again like 2 months and a couple dozen runs later and they still show exactly the same on the multimeter...
I use one of the Accucel clone chargers, it was about $50 with the power supply on eBay shipped from HK, haven't had any problems, it has a built in balancer, but I've never used it as I don't have the plug and I haven't taken the effort to make/buy one.
