Its similar to a Torsen (torque-sensing) LSD for a full size car--like in the Honda Civic Type R and Integra Type R and the style Quaife manufactures. The diff action comes mostly from the way the gears are put together inside, not from the weight of the diff fluid.

Losi just came out with a similar style diff for the eights and eightTs. Off power there is no or very minor diff action (like a one way) so you have great turn in, as soon as you get on power it starts diffing up and you get both wheels digging hard out of the turn. Pretty cool.
