I completely agree: the Kyosho seems very expensive up until you start to tally up the cost of all the goodies they include in the box (rims, tyres, mud guards, wheel scrapers, titanium & CNC'ed aluminium hardware, etc...)... That's when you realize what a bargain it actually is.
For what it's worth, I don't own either car but I think it's fair to say that the D8 has proven itself to be very competitive price-wise as well as on the circuit. That having been said, there truly are no free lunches and based on what I've been able to gather from the reports in the D8 thread, the car does tend to wear rather quickly, so whatever the racer doesn't plunk-down initially for the car will likely be evened-out by what he/she spends on parts.
I think that if you really believe in your equipment, keep it in good running order and hone your driving skills, you can win with pretty much any car.
