My son and I started with 18th scale. They were moderately fun but had trouble on larger tracks when racing. We went to 10th scale and it's great. Check your local track(s) and see if they have bigger turnouts for the Buggy or Truck classes. The T4 is a great car and perfect for starting racing. Plus, you can drive it off-road, in grass, etc. It's really hard to do much with the 18th scales other than on a prepared track, parking lot or otherwise smoother surfaces.
