Those constant pressure devices that people put on their pressure lines is it really just a fuel filter with the actual filter taken out or is there more to it than that?

I have an expansion chamber (just a fuel filter without the filter inside) and i was hoping i could use it with the same results as the proper, expensive constant pressure devices that Team Orion or O.S make.

Any help would be great
