I'm using Brian's method from Pro-Twister Mods, but the documentation that came with my motor is a little, um, "lacking" (as is their website).
Just wondering, since I am paranoid about grenading a perfectly good, new motor that I've spent hours getting ready to start (double checking the settings, getting the starter box lined up perfectly, etc).
Brians run in method is really good it's almost exactly what I do. Once run in one thing I will say is tune for performance not temp as there is so many differences in temp guns they're not worth the headaches they provide.
if your engine has a Long LSN then tune for bottom end first once your happy with that then tune the HSN it won't need much (depending on fuel plug pipe atmostphere etc) any where from a couple of hours to 1 turn.
If it's got a short LSN then it'll tune pretty much like any other nitro engine.
if your worried about temps then the spit test is always good, put a small amount of spit on your finger and transfer it to the head of the engine
If it doesn't bubble it's to cold
if it bubbles slowly but doesn't evaporate quickly you pretty good
if it bubbles and evaporates quickly your too hot.
There are a lot of things you can do while tuning but it would take me all night to write them in here
If you've got any issues when you get up and running feel free to ask questions as I'm sure you'll get answers pretty quickly on this thread as we all want go users to get the most out of their gear.
