Default SPektrum DX3 problem

I have an old faithful DX3(older than the DX3.0) and recently it has given up on me.When switched on,it will just display the number 11 and it will slowly fade away.It does not even have that beep upon switching on.It was working one moment and suddenly when I switch it off and on again,it became like this.

This transmitter has been with me quite awhile and has got a sentimental value.Hope to get it repaired so that I can use it as a back up.However, given the age of the TX,cost matters the most.Anybody have an idea what is wrong?

Having said all these,I am eyeing on the Spektrum DX3S on Amainhobbies which retails for $249.99.With the coupon code,it will be $25 lesser.I am residing in sunny Singapore and all the LHS have here is the DX3R.I am a regular basher and run at most 7 kits.I am inclined towards SPektrum as I have 3 of the SR3000 surface RX and do not want it to go to waste.

For the price of the DX3S plus 2 receivers,it's hard to give it a miss although I most of the locals and regulars recommends the DX3R due to local support. Moreover, the telemetry and the works give this model a run for your money. Not that I will really need it but it will be sweet to be able to monitor the temp, rpm and the voltage.Besides the smaller screen,10 model memory,DSM technology and inability to convert to left-hand(I'm right-handed btw ) on the DX3S,In what way is it different from the DX3R?I am in need of unbiased opinion as like I have said, the locals here only have the DX3R so there are no camparison to the DX3S.

Your positive inputs are much appreciated as I am looking into repairing the DX3 and also getting either the DX3S or DX3R.Thanks@
