I think the reason alot of people are having Rod problems with the V-Spec is the way they break-in the motor. The pinch is so tight when the motor is new that letting the motor sit there and Idol at a super rich setting does more harm to the rod than good. I have had great luck with my V-SPEC using the heat cycle method.
