andrew - you aren't crazy, the shearing if the threads is starting to become a known problem. I busted two if them this weekend at the gate when running 10.5. I hope manufactures are listening about the weak spot in this product and are looking to improve upon it. I know at least two US based 1:12 manufactures with many national champ wins are looking to solve this problem in their releases of the hotbodies-like blader shock.

I have thought about drilling out an old school shock cap but haven't gotten around to it yet.
