I agree with RCI. Tamiya uses pancake syrup/water solution for traction. It's pretty cheap at Stater Brothers or other grocery stores. It's like 5-6 dollars a gallon and can be cut with water to cover the track. 2-3 gallons gives the Tamiya Track insane grip 
But be careful...ants love it too hehe
That would explain the dead ants on the tires.
