I would say signifently different. i have seen cells with 3v + on a multimeter!!!! (they were $%&*ed of course).

Wait till you get your new cells that aren't fried and try the charging as suggest then. your old dead pack will only tell you that everything is no good cause it ain't interested in working anymore.
