It is 1C, not one amp. Empty 5000mAh packs= charge at 5 amps, empty 2400= 2,4 amps, etc.
For a nimh the charger keeps the amps constant , for lipo it keeps the voltage the same. So once the desired voltage is reached, the charger then starts decreasing the amps while charging. I hope this makes sense.
