I know that was a issue on the Serpents with the pitch they use but havent had any hassles with the gear combos i have tried.
Some others can comment but i dont see it as a hassle.
Only problem we had with stripping gears was the bearing play on the 2 speed housing and having excessive clearance on the 2 speed shoes to the 2 speed housing.
Some have mentioned with the RS that the motor mount caused some hassles too.
