all the cheap hobby grade temp guns are inconsistent... sure one persons gun reads accurate, but the next 10 do not..... take 10 different HPI guns and compare results, my bet is there will be a 50 degree varience between all 10 guns........ that critical to the engines performance, life, and tuning? whats a 10 degree difference when youre dealing with temps over 250F... like 2.5%, not much at all.
temps are for a rough estimate (anything in between 200-250 is the same, means youre fine, 250-300 is a little hot, 300+ is way too hot) not to tune your engine to the absolute perfect mixture of air/gas. although some engines are different, some engines run fine at 180F, some run fine at 280F.
