If I were JUST starting out in T/A, this is would I would do (not saying what you should do, just what I would do)...

First, pick up a USED chassis. Something made in the last 3-4 years that you can get for a low cost with a large spares supply. Buy once and you'll never need a hobby shop in this class. Then, electronics. If you buy right, you won't ever buy again, even if you move to another class.
  • Novak GTB with LiPo cutoff, Tekin RS OR an LRP Sphere
If budget were an issue, I'd look to the Novak XBR Sport or LRP Ai Brushless, but remember higher cost usually equals smaller SIZE
  • Novak 21.5 Brushless Motor
  • (1) Orion 3600 Carbon LiPo
If budget were an issue, I'd look to the Orion LiPo Experience 2400
That's just me, though. I'd like common equipment/easily found, decent customer service if it needs it, and a proven track record.
