That looks OK if it was burnt then the stator windings would be black and smelling.
You say you were running the same gearing as a CO27 then id suggest going up big time as you are way undergeared.
We are running 13.5's anywhere from 38mm - 43mm rollout.
Put it together and gear up and watch the temp.
70 deg/c or above is a nono ideal is around 60 - 65 deg/c
