I'm curious about the reasoning behind this sentiment. Braking is an equal (if not MORE than equal) test of driving than acceleration and top speed. There is a reason that on any successful racecar the brakes are more powerful than the engine. I'd also go so far as to say that in "real" racing being able to consistently judge braking is one of the things that separates the pros from the weekend hacks. 'Least that's what Keith Code (motorcycle racing coach/guru) told his students for years when I was working for him.
Of course, my favorite for the end of a long straight is a decreasing radius turn...forcing you to brake (or at least progressively scrub off speed) while turning.
