Yep they come apart from time to time. But not THAT easy... Mine haven't shortend. Besides a small drop of glue prevent it from open up accidently.
Setup fot stock? Depends on traction. If you got plenty of traction, dont even consider current limiting. Personally I prefer to disable the auto brake, since a stock motor in it self brakes a lot.
