I've been having issues tuning my 3 Port Sport (Aluminum carb).
At my first race 2 weeks ago I had issues trying to get it to idle and run consistant. I had 2 stalls during my heats ( once when the car was being marshalled and once while the car was flipping in a crash). The glowplug blew and that ended my main with 3 laps to go.
After the race I went through ad sealed the backplate, carb, needles, and checked the fuel tank and lines.
During an afternoon I tried almost every setting recomended on this thread and here's where i'm at...
With this motor/carb, I can not run the HSN flush or near flush, it simply will not run well ( I tried every combination of LSN to accompany this setting, it was a no go).
So finally I ended up with the HSN in about 3 turns and LSN in about 3 turns from flush. My idle gap is now .9mm, it is running well on the bottom and top, but the idle is a bit crazy. Believe me I tried every combination of HSN/LSN/gap that afternoon running about 3/4 gallon of fuel.
Seems that the LSN has 1/4 turn widow between too lean and too rich...?
Does this sound right?
My carb slide returns to the stop everytime, but sometimes it does seem tilt or cock in the carb alittle bit. I could be beating myself up over carb problems...
I just bought the 3prt R Spec and I don't have time to break it in before the weekend. I was thinking about using that carb on the 3 sport? I also have an AE carb from the .28 Pro, but I have no restrictors for that carb and don't know what fuel milage i'll get.
Any thoughts on using either of these carbs on the sport?
Thanks guys
