Actually it seems like motors right about to blow up run harder than the new ones. I agree that this seems odd but experience tells me otherwise. However I dont run them till the blow I run them till they start becoming unreliable.
I do know some people share your same opinion though. Just like some people put in a new glow plug when not needed just for insurance.
