I am not sure if this is the way they were intended to be mounted, I coulnd't find anything on them either.
If you look at the two \ \ , I would think they have to be mounted on the inside of the rim, as they stand up if pushed one way, and they fold over flat if pushed the other. That said, if you have them mounted on the inside, that flap would be pushed up(giving more grip) on the tire with most of the load(left tire if turning right, and vis versa).
This is all just my theory. I ran the tires once, but the track I was running needed pins, I wasn't the only one taking off ribs. So I can't tell you they worked any better or worse than standard ribs.
