Dirty? No
Packed full of grease? Yes.
I left the grease in my bearings since I don't like to spend a lot of time maintaining my car. Racers who want more performance and a freer (sp?) drivetrain will remove the packed grease and relube with a light oil like Trinity's Royal oil. This will require more frequent maintenance of your bearings.
