Without knowing your track, yeah, pink tapers are generally the right thing for a hard packed clay track. I believe I've even seen Mr. Cavalieri and others of AE use them. But have you experiemented with foams? Check around at your track, Trinity Bomb One firm foams are frequently used with this combo.
