I guess I should have asked first but will a crc gen x work on asphalt?

We are running "run what you brung" so we are trying to keep this cheap as it might not take of here. I have already been bit by spending a ton of money on classes that never really take off. So I want to use stuff I have laying around.

That would be nice as I already have that stuff. I could also run one of my brushed speed controls but only one of them can go down to 4.8v. Its a traxxas XL-5.

The only motor I have is a Tamiya black can. I have never run these or anything on 4 cell but this motor on 6cell was plenty at this track on a tamiya m03. Will it loose alot going down 2 cells? Can I run a 2 cell lipo instead? A 2 cell lipo should weigh around the same as 4 cells so it might work. I hope so because comming from electric helis I am very comfy with Lipos.

Any suggestions?
