20 years ago engines looked like this sports engine and even today there are a lot of people with current highend engines not getting to the laptimes as the topdrivers from then.

We are a bit spoiled with the idea that only nice shaped parts and fancy porting will make a motor fast.

So yes, for our standards it looks crappy but I still think it will be a a faster option for all those RTR drivers and that is the purpose of these kind of engines.
Unfortunately, 20 years ago, the price of this sport motor was the price of a top end engine. People expect the engines now to come standard with what was once new technology/fancy engine work. Maybe not as much, but the sport does look very basic to say the least. In 1/8 buggy, a Sportwerks .21 or.26 has more features/internal work done for a very low price. Its what is now considered to be standard, not extra.
