The new A123 stuff physically won't fit in the cars. It's not the correct size and has less capacity than an old wupped out 4200. A good start would be a CR123 sized cell (standard photo cell). Maybe I'll order some to try.
Again, if ANY cell manufacturer is going to make a real impact on RC they're going to have to make cells that work in ALL of the classes. This means the cells have to be about 45mm square and about the same thickness as a current sub-C.
At least the SCiB cells have a more useful voltage and could be split up into the classes that we currently have. 4.8v for 12th and oval and 7.2 for sedan/offroad.
I'm a pretty big fan of the LiPo and new chemistries. The fact that you only need 1 or 2 packs of LiPo cells for a whole season (or more) is a huge plus. The missing link is the 4 cell classes.
