I run the Futaba S9452 servo for steering and the Futaba S9550 servo for throttle/brake. Both digitals, and lighter than the "average" servo. They are smaller than the average servos as well. Priced well for a premium servo. I would definitely use a digital servo for steering. Digital or analog for throttle.
