The case halves are supposed to be loose-ish. Basically, they are doublesided taped to the LiPo battery in the case. This allows for some expansion of the LiPo cell in the event of an overcharge, etc without having the case let the cells build pressure from being restricted.

Those of you that are ambitios/brave can carefully pull the cases apart to expose the electronics and cells inside. Just use your hands and fingers - DO NOT pry anything in there as you can puncture the LiPo cells. Naturally this will void your warranty.

Once open you can see how the balance plug and discharge protection electronics are connected. On the packs I sell I obviously don't take them apart but on my own personal packs I remove the elcetronics, re-wire the balancing plug and hardwire a 12 gauge wire with Deans plug to the cells. I don't need the LiPo voltage cut-off for my race cars and there is some voltage drop across the voltage protection circuitry which I have measured to be about .10 volts.

Personally, I think these are the best packs to get if you are bashing or club racing and want to have LiPo performance and don't want to buy a ESC with LiPo cut-off built in. For racing, with the electronics bypassed they can be very competitive.
