Exactly. The hum is the sound made from the drive frequency (the motor is constantly turned on and off rather than completely on) of the servo's motor. Digital has a very high drive frequency versus and analog which is very low. The sound analogs make is just more like a vibration. Different manufacturers also use different drive frequencies so you will notice a difference in pitch between brands. Hitecs just tend to be a bit louder than many others, but it's completely normal.

Mpowerz- If you're dumping a receiver pack in 15 min then there is definitely a problem. Even running two high end digitals a 1200 receiver pack should still go 30+ minutes. The only thing that would reduce that is a bad pack (maybe it false peaked), not having the endpoints set correctly and/or binding in the linkages.
