It is true that it will drain your batteries if you leave it plugged in but this in a way is a good thing because it will completed discharge the receiver pack thus cycling the batteries and removing any memory.

I plug my car into a slow charger the night before a race. I can usually run practice and 2 or 3 qualifiers before I use my peak charger to charge the pack before the main. I leave the switch plugged in but turned off and it completely discharges the pack.
