Default Tekin Short track Nationals, Billings MT, March 2008

Official announcement:

The "Tekin Short Track Nationals", sponsored by Stormer Hobbies.

March 8-9th, 2008 in Billings Montana at the Shrine auditorium.

Jim Campbell of Tekin, and myself were talking about how it seems our area and region seems like we kind of get passed over a lot for the really cool, fun and different stuff. So, we put our heads together and came up with this concept to add additional fun, and value to the regionals. Key word is fun.

4 classes of cars based on the Losi Slider, 1/18th scale sprint cars and late models.

Rules are on post #24 further down.

This will be run as part of the regular schedule during the ROAR region 11 Carpet championships. After a round of regionals is run, we run a round of the Short track nationals. etc.

The building is big enough that we are simply putting up another piece of dedicated carpet next to the other massive track for the regionals. There will be a complete timing system on it as well, so we can have practice and what not.

This is short track racing. the layout is likely to be an oval of about 24x60' (that's the exterior of the track). We've tested the sizes and anything to much bigger just isn't as fun. Based on track size, we are "likely" limiting all heats and mains to 6 cars. Although I doubt this will happen, we are limiting entrys to 72 total, split among the 4 classes.

There will be trophys, Tekin stuff, Losi stuff and a bunch of other prizes.

Jim Campbell and the guys from Tekin will be in attendance to race, hang out, answer questions, and have some fun.

Stormer Hobbies and crew will have on hand plenty of spare parts and complete Slider cars. We want to make sure everybody that needs something to keep racing has the parts they need, on site.

This race is happening.
