You can go out and buy a brushless system today if you wish. Brushless setups have been around for at least 10 years. Problem is that they work best for full throttle applications, ie. insane speed runs. Novak is trying to fix the inconsistent mid-throttle and braking characteristics of the brushless system. That is why the are coming out with a new brushless speed control to go with their brushless motor. They are apparently still trying to get it right. Anyone can build a brushless motor and throw it out on the market.
