I have bent the suspension shafts after meeting a wall, and the difference it makes to the ride height can be a couple of millimetres, as well as slightly changing toe-in angles and so on. This can lead to amusing handling characteristics, especially when trying to take chicanes at speed...
I imagine that this would stop the pins from bending in a crash, so the handling would be consistent.
Still, it looks a bit wacky to me, and you have to hit the wall pretty hard to bend the pins enough to notice a difference, and the pins are really cheap / easy to replace.
You can even get the flash titanium ones, which dont appear to be much stronger
