Actually im not too sure about that. I use the v2 HD Unis. However you need to use v2 oneway or v2/v3 spool to use them.
If you run a spool then the v3 spool is the best one around, the one-piece aluminium ones wear pretty quickly.

It might be the ball on the end is a different size (the bit with the pin through it that fits into the drive cups). Thats the difference between the v2 unis and the standard ones, or perhaps it could be the fronts unis are thicker to take more shock from a spool or oneway???? But only guessing
