Having seen them run, I can tell you that the Velineon systems from Traxxas are about as fast as a Novak 6.5 or so at the very best... Thus the 3.5 would be WAY faster than the Traxxas Velineon... LRP and Novak are your best bet, and Novak offers "High Voltage" rigs that might open new opportunities...
To be fair, one local has been using 11.1v LiPo with his Velineon, and it really makes that system come alive!
