5 vs 6 depends on track and driver. Geared properly 5 cell isnt slow, but you lose punch. Yes, we gear up around 2 pinions.
5 cells and 3.5 is really fast and still easy to drive if there is traction, but depending on track size and battery you might have trouble making the runtime.
