Mod motor: go for all the horsepower you can get, a 3.5 is probably the way to go for 1:10. 1:12 unknown to me.
if you want the most horsepower get a speed passion 2.5r motor, fastest yet, but you have to run 5 cell and that may also be an advantage having a lighter car.
