They are physically different receivers. One major difference you can see right away is the Losi receiver uses a bind plug, where the Spektrum receivers had bind buttons. The PCBs are different to accomodate each different bind method. While I don't know the ins and outs on the Losi unit it wouldn't surprise me that there are other differences as well.
