I managed to squeeesh a 118/50 tooth combination onto my JRX-S (w/ Johnson silvercan 540, starting off in the sport).

I had to push the servo horn all the way down onto the servo hub, but there's still a good 0.5mm of clearance at full lock each direction... And there's all the clearance in the world with the steering centred. No worries at all.

Edit: What about the 48 pitch gears? That way there are 92/94/96 tooth spurs (from memory) and the peeen-yon can be smaller too as a result, pushing the motor futher aft. That might work?
