It's just a too lower gear ratio that'll cause overheating. As long as you find the right spur/pinion combo you'll be fine. I think the max sized 48 pitch spur you can stick in a '007 is 87... not sure about the T2 though.

If you're after getting the last millisecond out of laptimes, use smaller spurs and pinions for less rotational intertia. But to be honest, the difference in size is pretty insignificant. The main difference will be due to the motor being positioned more to the front or back.

Check the inside back cover of your manual/set-up book for a whole range of combos to arrive at the ratio you're after.
