We are going to see the same variations in brushless. 13.5 will be the class and the can and rotor designs will vary. This is just a tuning option.
Good point, so please remember that the following items are controlled by Rules for BR 'stock' and 'spec' motors...

Wire diameter; number of turns; wind pattern; amount of advance; magnet material; rotor diameter; rotor length.

...and all the designs you mentioned conformed to those rules. Such Rules do not exist for BL, so any comparison is not valid. Until BL has a similar set of Rules, we can't say what variations are important to finding the best motor. There is no equivalence from BL to BR in 'stock' until the BL motor has a set of Rules to follow.
