The cross wind vs. hemi wind is irrelevant to the current's direction and thus the rotational direction.

All a cross wind (aka Tamiya Wind) does is, instead of going straight up to the tab and going straight across it, it loops BACKWARD through it, crossing itself to go to the next set of winds. The wire is still travelling in the same direction, it only gets connected to the comm being looped. It's completely irrelevant to direction - but it IS somewhat less efficient, which is why Mods don't do it.

ROAR and NORRCA rules dictate a cross-wound pattern for stock motors.
