crystal is pretty forgiving as far as tires go. I always use 38's, but 35's seem to work well enough for practice, although I would not recommend them for a race (chunk easily and wear down fast). if you have 40's, don't be afraid to use them, but they don't hook up as well imo. It's all about what works with your car.
