the L4 axle will fit an L3 and is actually a very good upgrade.the L4 came with the big ring diff which is the new standard in axles.IRS makes them for everyone on the market and you can get them from anywhere really.the only company i know of that makes an axle besides IRS is riemen and they are very expensive.
