Put a thin piece of paper, or foil (cigarette pack liner foil is ideal) between the pinion and the spur. Snug them together, tighten the motor, roll the paper out - job done!

Much easier than swapping pinions, and works right first time every time. As stated above, make sure there are no tight spots. HTH
