the trend today is toward smaller escs. most of the newer escs (gt7, keyence zero v, quantum) dont have the fets sticking out of the case where you just clip on the heatsinks (ala cyclone, v7s) i also had a 2nd hand quantum but i cannot find "thermal transfer" tape (maybe radio shack has those) so i just used ordinary thin double sided tape. im not sure if the tape is as efficient as the one originally designed for the task, but i didnt have a problem with the esc nor the heatsink coming loose
