I think it has nothing to do with being dumb...it has everything to do with the human mind's tendency to "find" ("see") the answer it's looking for when the actual result isn't really clear.
We all do it to some extent.

but maybe they said that so that pepole buy all the diff motors?
just saying it might be worth a test for someone that has the spare time.
