The Li-Ion charge profile will not harm a li-po in any way. Instead of a lipo 4.2V/cell CC/CV profle, a Li-Ion charge profile will charge to 4.10V/cell CC/CV. A lipo will be approximately 80% charged under the Li-Ion profile and it won't be damaged. If the car is running for a minute, then something else is wrong.
